AI for Retail / Etsy-style shop owner

Product listings, customer messages, photos, social posts, policies.

Quick answer: start with the AI already inside the email/office suite you pay for. Use it on Green tasks for 2–3 weeks, measure the time, then write a one-page policy.

Bring AI to your workplace, step by step

For the first person at work trying this, when nobody else knows how.

  1. Pick 1–3 tasks from the top of the list. Note roughly how long each takes today.
  2. Check what you already pay for. Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace? Look for Copilot Chat (Outlook/Word) or Gemini (Gmail/Docs). Ask your account admin if you don't see it.
  3. Learn the data colors (below). Start with Green only.
  4. Pitch a small pilot to the owner: 1–2 people, a few weeks, Green data, no new spending.
  5. Run it and measure: minutes before vs after, mistakes caught, anything that felt risky.
  6. Pay only if it earns its keep. Use the tool table; prefer what's already included.
  7. Write a one-page AI policy before others start: approved tools, data colors, human review, one login per person with 2FA.
  8. Expand one task at a time; review every 3 months, since prices and features change.

Script for your boss: "I'd like to try the AI that's already in our [Microsoft/Google] account for [task]. Just me for three weeks, no customer or sensitive info, no new cost. I'll track the time saved and bring you results plus a one-page set of rules before anyone else uses it. OK to try?"
